Innovation should happen with educators, not to them.

The AI and Education Studio accelerates responsible and purposeful adoption of artificial intelligence in education by translating research into practical solutions, guiding ethical implementation, and advancing tools and policies that improve teaching, learning, and organizational decision making.

What we work toward

Our strategic goals

Seven commitments shape everything the Studio takes on, from a single co-design session to a multi-year research partnership.

Problem identification and use case design

We work with educators and leaders to design tools, apps, and workflows that solve real problems of practice, in real time, in ways that matter locally.

Research and impact

We build on and share actionable research on AI's impact in education settings, addressing equity, learner outcomes, teaching practices, and organizational sustainability.

Responsible AI

We create and share frameworks and tools that safeguard learners' rights, promote accessibility, and ensure AI use reflects cultural and contextual needs.

Innovation and co-design

We connect developers with educators and learners to prototype and refine AI solutions grounded in authentic instructional and operational challenges.

Policy and governance

We contribute expertise to standards, guidance, and operational models that enable transparent, safe, and human-centered decision making.

Evaluation and improvement

We establish feedback, evaluation, and accountability mechanisms so AI solutions remain effective, equitable, and responsive to evolving needs.

Professional learning

We provide professional learning, advisory support, and open resources that increase knowledge, confidence, and readiness for responsible AI adoption.

Our why is simple

This is about transformation, not tools.

The idea of the Studio began with a group of educators, leaders, funders, and policymakers meeting regularly to explore the opportunity that AI presents to education.

From the very beginning, we agreed: this isn't about tools or add-ons to existing systems. It's about reimagining what learning can look like when educators, leaders, and students work side by side as co-creators of change.

We know the power of co-design. We know the importance of field-based insights and diverse perspectives. And we understand how to connect those voices, teachers, learners, and communities, to the developers, funders, and decision makers shaping the future of technology in education.

We are committed to a world where every educator and learner has a voice in how AI shapes teaching and learning, and where that voice leads to equitable, human-centered innovation.

Join the movement. Make the most of the moment.

How we work

Our programs

Co-design lab

Our co-design lab, the Educators AI, brings together master facilitators, students, families, technology professionals, educators, activists, advocates, and policymakers to identify problems of practice and act on them. It is our flagship program, delivering feedback loops to funders, policymakers, and community leaders so that educator and student voice informs what gets funded and supported. AI is one smart tool. We believe educators are smarter.

Participate

Research

The research we are engaged in is both short term and long term. We partner with edtech companies to identify the impact of their tools and improve their implementation planning. We work with funders to evaluate projects. We support nonprofits, ministries, states, districts, and charter organizations in using AI responsibly and in service of their core mission.

Get in touch

Resources

Our team interacts with organizations, educators, leaders, and students from over 50 countries. There are lessons in those conversations, and we bring together what we learn from co-design sessions, research, and continual engagement with the field as no-cost guidance in our learning library.

Guides, rubrics, frameworks, reports, and how-tos from our work with the field. New assets are added as our sessions and research produce them.

Have something the field should see? Send it our way and we will consider it for the library.

In the spotlight

Building trust by supporting educators and leaders.

When we say co-design we mean co-design. The lightbulbs go off when we work alongside educators to identify problems, develop solutions, test ideas, and talk it through.
